J. Crew goes Rouges

Frank Muytjens, J.Crew's head of men's design, has been signing free agents like a Yankees GM (c.f. Red Wing, Sperry, Mackintosh, Selima Optique, Timex, Thomas Mason). After meeting up with Rogues Gallery's Alex Carleton at a recent fashion week, Muytjens made the Portland, Maine-based nautical fetishists his latest franchise player, inking a deal to sell a special line of T-shirts and bags at J.Crew's Liquor Store. The collection debuts today in the form of three T-shirts (the bags, along with three additional tee designs, are coming shortly). The look and fabric are all Rogues—Muytjens curated rather than created the graphics, and the shirts are made from Rogues' usual beautifully beaten-down vintage tee stock—but the Maine line's sometimes wonky fit has been standardized (J.Crew sent its fit blocks up to Portland just to make sure) and gently streamlined for fewer surprises. Even better—and unlike a typical Yankees acquisition—you don't have to have Steinbrenner's deep pockets to afford them.
$48, available today at larger J.Crew stores and September 17 at jcrew.com
