Dan identifies with the competitive style of Rob and Amber. Both brothers hope that the Race will take their new found closeness to the next level and help them forge an even stronger bond.

Check out the rest of the cast here.

Towleroad

HisOwnStylehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06254129518404582551noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6311550553369196575.post-55614531637509531512009-09-10T08:13:00.001-06:002009-09-10T08:13:58.191-06:00Sigh …. Specifically, I'm a bit addicted to the "Energy" (i.e. yellow) flavor, and I even know which deli in my neighborhood sells it the cheapest.

Today the company launched a Facebook contest that allows users to create the next Vitaminwater flavor. Users will also create the label for the bottles, which will be sold in stores in March 2010.

50 Cent and Carrie Underwood will help pick the winning label design. There's no telling what the flavor will be, but a "Flavor Buzzmeter" says ginger, mint, banana, green apple and coconut are among the most popular ingredients right now.

We can't vote for flavors until Sept. 14 or create designs until Oct. 5. However, the site has posted several games and "flavor profiles" to help generate ideas.

"Just because bacon water has never been done doesn't mean we should bottle it," warns the site's computerized guide. Um, I'm not so sure of that ...

Pop Candy

HisOwnStylehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06254129518404582551noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6311550553369196575.post-4548615085200098132009-09-08T12:54:00.001-06:002009-09-08T12:54:02.089-06:00Playthings

Clockwise from top left: Brown leather tote by Prada. Is this really the same half-humanoid/half-wolfman who's made a name for himself playing the wild yet loveable feral beast these past two years for the Aussie National Rugby League?

What difference a clean shave and the vision of a brilliant photographer the likes of Pedro Virgil can make.... I'd say the transformation has indeed been quite remarkable ... So much so even Hollywood's started to take notice...

For those of you not familiar with this man by now... well, I welcome you out from under your rock hiding place... (I kid of course )... But I'm pretty sure Mr. David Williams's gorgeous face has been spotted here and there by now? He's of course only one of a select few prominent players featured in perhaps one of the hottest rugby hunk calendars since... well since the early days of French Dieux du Stade's classic rugby hotness .

David's transformation from bearded rugby wolfman to (arguably) hottest rugby player on earth was of course best captured in the complementary 'making of' DVD released back in mid-may...

Admittedly he kind of comes across like a loose cannon, but I guess at the end of the day, that's part of the appeal as well ...

Both the Gods of Football calendar and 'making of' DVD benefit the McGrath Foundation for battling breast cancer. A worthy cause no doubt, and ultimately rendering the hotness founder herein pretty noble in its endeavor...

The Gods of Football calendar can still be purchased through Amazon, along with the 'making of DVD' (which incidentally became available in the UK early last month). The DVD itself really speaks volumes as to just how powerfully built rugby players are... and were it making the case as to whether Rugby players are in fact the hottest athletes on earth, I think it's succeeded on that front as well .

As for Mr. Williams himself... Jared Koch, nutritionist and author of Clean Plates NYC has these tips for how to incorporate healthier eating into your BBQs this summer:

One of the primary messages I try and get across to my clients and in Clean Plates is that because we are a nation overly obsessed with quantity (think high calorie, low carb, high protein, low salt etc.) we often overlook the more important aspect of the quality of food we are eating. Simply improving the quality of the same foods you are used to eating can have profound positive effects on your health.

Here are some examples of how to do this during your summer BBQs:

thedailygreen.com

HisOwnStylehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06254129518404582551noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6311550553369196575.post-73791338265325668752009-09-04T14:17:00.001-06:002009-09-04T14:17:01.358-06:00J. Red Wing, Sperry, Mackintosh, Selima Optique, Timex, Thomas Mason). After meeting up with Rogues Gallery's Alex Carleton at a recent fashion week, Muytjens made the Portland, Maine-based nautical fetishists his latest franchise player, inking a deal to sell a special line of T-shirts and bags at J.Crew's Liquor Store. The collection debuts today in the form of three T-shirts (the bags, along with three additional tee designs, are coming shortly). The look and fabric are all Rogues—Muytjens curated rather than created the graphics, and the shirts are made from Rogues' usual beautifully beaten-down vintage tee stock—but the Maine line's sometimes wonky fit has been standardized (J.Crew sent its fit blocks up to Portland just to make sure) and gently streamlined for fewer surprises. Even better—and unlike a typical Yankees acquisition—you don't have to have Steinbrenner's deep pockets to afford them.
$48, available today at larger J.Crew stores and September 17 at jcrew.com

COREY SEYMOUR
Courtesy of J.Crew
10:34 AM, September 04, 2009

HisOwnStylehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06254129518404582551noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6311550553369196575.post-63241686702611103632009-09-04T10:31:00.000-06:002009-09-04T10:31:00.086-06:00Tight End … the art of Michael Breyette

The Art of Michael Breyette

HisOwnStylehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06254129518404582551noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6311550553369196575.post-15664049183412047462009-09-04T09:26:00.000-06:002009-09-04T09:26:00.445-06:00Today's Joeboy (latest favorite Joe Phillips illustration)
Very season appropriate, don't you think?

Joe Phillips

HisOwnStylehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06254129518404582551noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6311550553369196575.post-37601037058571488592009-09-04T03:06:00.001-06:002009-09-04T03:06:59.604-06:006 Secrets of a Personal Trainer
Getting fit isn't just about getting attention on the beach or at the gym; working out reduces stress increases feel-good endorphins and boosts your metabolism.

Still not motivated? Then we've got some more good news for you. Personal trainer S. Ross, ACE, NSCA, shared some of his fitness secrets. Here's a sampling:

Try Shock Therapy

Before long, your muscles get bored with the same old routine. That's why, says Ross, "you must shock the body with a new routine now and then to keep it from getting too comfortable." Ross suggests a full body workout, in which you spend an hour doing 10 different exercises that focus on various regions of your entire body, two or three times a week.

Another way to break up your routine, says Ross, is to vary your reps. If you usually do 10 reps per set, for example, lower the weight for a few weeks and crank out 15 to 18 reps instead. And if you’re really feeling energetic, jump rope for three to five minutes between sets. This high intensity training will help burn fat. "Your body won't know what hit it," says Ross. "And that’s a good thing."

Get a Workout Partner

The next best thing to a personal trainer is a workout partner. Besides providing extra motivation, your partner will spot you while you squeeze out those all-important extra reps. And if you’re tempted to skip a workout, the guilt of leaving your partner in a lurch should keep you on track, big time. "A workout partner is one of the best ways to keep you focused and working hard," says Ross, who trains with a partner himself.

Do Your Homework
How do you think personal trainers became experts in their field? They did their homework -- and so can you. Fitness magazines, books and Web sites can help you become your own fitness expert, or at least devise a solid workout routine. "I suggest clipping helpful articles and bringing them to the gym," says Ross. "Try new exercises and ask your workout partner to make sure you’re doing them correctly."

Form is Everything
Lifting heavy weights may look impressive, but if done incorrectly, it won't help to sculpt your body. If you want results, you need to have the right form. "Spend some time refocusing on the importance of form," says Ross. "Even reduce the amount of weight and change your focus to: ‘Am I doing this exercise correctly?’"

Watch and Learn
One of the easiest ways to pick up exercise tips is to observe how other people work out. Check out the guys with the ripped bodies (as if you’re not already doing this!) and pay attention to their form. You might even learn a new exercise, or a variation of an exercise already incorporated into your routine. "I watched and learned when I first started working out," says Ross. But beware: not every guy with a ripped body has good form. "A lot of people can have great bodies, but really bad form," Ross adds. "Form is the first priority. Watch others, but proceed with caution."

Hire a Trainer Once a Month
Forget about buying that new designer shirt and book a session with a trainer once a month instead. A few sessions can help you perfect your routine, which will make every subsequent trip to the gym more effective. "Sometimes we forget why we’re even doing an exercise, and we focus only on lifting a weight," says Ross. Here's A 4-Step Self-Esteem Boost

I was laid off earlier this year and have been unemployed now for almost six months. In addition to the financial stress, my self-esteem is plummeting. What can I do right away to feel better about myself?

Often when things happen TO us we believe it happens BECAUSE of us. Then we may begin to doubt ourselves or tear ourselves apart. Don’t take a job layoff personally—you have a lot of company out there right now--and recognize that you CAN create your own solution.

Here are some reminders that may help you. Let yourself dip in and out of them; be fluid in your actions and feel a flow that is right for you.

*Feel your Feelings: Embrace all of them. How can you do that? Just get curious, then see what happens. And remember, it is OK to be angry, mad, sad and even a little bit bad. This is part of our humanity and part of our learning process. There’s a saying, “When that hot wind blows, lean into it.” We can resist and sweat and complain about what we are feeling or we can really experience it. If we do, our viewpoint will often shift and we will live from a freer, more positive perspective.

*Face your Fear. Often we spend time and energy running from something that we can’t even name. It is usually the monsters we can’t see that have the scariest faces. So turn on the light and have a look-see. You may be delighted to discover that some of the faces are friendlier than you thought and others simply melt away. A great mystic has said, “The mind has no power of its own. We have given power to the mind; we have to take it back.” As another great philosopher said, “If not now, when?”

*Welcome the Peanut Gallery: In other words, that chorus of internal voices that expresses all the old, limiting beliefs. Give them space. Give them a name and a face. Let them snicker and shout, whine and moan. Hear them out. Then challenge them with the light of your own strength and integrity, common sense and compassion. Watch them fade away. If they have a valid point celebrate it, use it, then MOVE ON.

*Be Who You Are: Now is the critical time to stand up for who you are; to resist the temptation to sell yourself short. Work with what you’ve got--with your talents, your intuition, your energy, and your strengths. Now more than ever is the time to go to YOUR core and see what you are made of. Then share it. Be Who You Are. Give What You’ve Got. Then see how you'll Get What You Want.

-- Linda Zitelli, CPC, MBA

To contact Linda or "Ask the Life Coach", write to lmz630@yahoo.com.

GayHealthBlog.com

HisOwnStylehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06254129518404582551noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6311550553369196575.post-57547811711400251972009-09-03T17:03:00.001-06:002009-09-03T17:03:27.354-06:00IKEA Heights Secretly Shot Inside the Burbank Store
Here's a late afternoon diversion for those of you who frequent our favourite IKEA in Burbank. Apparently a small crew of independent filmmakers shot this web short on location at the IKEA Burbank on the fly. Is it any good? We'll leave that up to you, but you'll probably have as much fun as we did watching for actual customers unwittingly walking into scenes and their curious expressions...

We've heard of plenty of stranger shenanigans that happen at IKEAs, including marriage proposals, makeout sessions and even birthday parties with large groups appearing fully equipped with cake and party favors, celebrating inside showrooms setups and then departing right afterward. Guess us Americans are just as strange as our Chinese counterparts with our love of living at IKEA.

Check out the rest of IKEA Heights here.

Apartment Therapy

HisOwnStylehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06254129518404582551noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6311550553369196575.post-78852449281386942882009-09-02T07:49:00.001-06:002009-09-02T07:49:53.711-06:00Top iPhone Apps for Gay Travel - Grindr

The Naked Truth… Really Naked! – Grindr

Not a PG-13 app by any means, Grindr has proven to be hugely popular, growing to nearly 500,000 users in the USA alone after launching only three months ago on the iTunes.

Grindr is the only way to go as far as meeting other gay iPhone users, as it allows real-time chatting and picture sharing all from the comfort of your iPhone!

Plus it has one huge feature no of the other gay apps have, shows other users based on how close they are to you and it sorts users for you as you move. The process of interviewing Timberlake has more twists and turns than a Sue Grafton novel (J Is for Justin?), so I was sworn to secrecy about his location which, it turned out, was on an empty floor of a Chelsea condo building. Upon entering the uninhabited penthouse I was asked to watch a documentary about the making of the film shoot for the scent’s ad campaign. After the doc, I was allowed into the antechamber, one room closer to the man himself, where I watched another documentary, this one about the actual fragrance. Lost in the discourse of the citrus-y high notes of Play, I was startled to feel a gentle tap on my shoulder. “It’s your turn,” said a clipboarded PR woman. I followed her through a partition and then, just like that, I had gained an audience with Mr. Timberlake. After exchanging pleasantries, we quickly got down to business.

Out.com

HisOwnStylehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06254129518404582551noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6311550553369196575.post-9391065270857383072009-09-01T11:26:00.001-06:002009-09-01T11:26:13.601-06:00How to shave your junk …
Real World: Brooklyn fitness trainer Scott Herman follows up on his popular chest-shaving instructional video with one directed down under.

Towleroad

HisOwnStylehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06254129518404582551noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6311550553369196575.post-64832254414451959372009-09-01T10:46:00.001-06:002009-09-01T10:46:15.316-06:00Cool wool shoes for fall & winter
Another Common Project

As the old saying goes, you can judge a man by the company he keeps. If that's the case, high marks for Common Projects' Peter Poopat and Flavio Girolami, who have been collaborating with some of menswear's best and brightest of late: Moscot, on a seriously covetable set of shades; Patrik Ervell, for runway-only shoes (a few pairs of which aren't so runway-only); and now, United Bamboo, for two limited-edition low-top styles in fall-ready gray and brown plaid wool. Given this latest in a string of successes, maybe we'd better turn things around and judge the other guys by the Common Projects company they keep—or just fall back on another old saying instead: Everybody wins.
Price not yet announced, available in September exclusively at unitedbamboo.com; commonprojects.com

MATTHEW SCHNEIER

Photos: Courtesy of Common Projects and United Bamboo

3:32 PM, August 31, 2009

men.style.com

HisOwnStylehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06254129518404582551noreply@blogger.com0
