One Life to Live's New Gay Couple

Gay Kishmet

Scott Evans and Brett Claywell chat about their highly anticipated kiss on One Life to Live.

By Nelson Branco

Lately, gays are all the rage on daytime television. ABC’s One Life to Live, which told arguably the best gay storyline in soap history with then unknown actor Ryan Phillippe in 1992, is the latest sudser to spin a tale of love, lust, and betrayal from the rainbow perspective. A lot has changed since 1992, which is why the Emmy-winning series is returning to its gay roots. This time around “the smart man’s soap” is tackling a new perspective on the age-old coming-out tale: last month, it was revealed that "straight" police officer Oliver Fish (played by Scott Evans) and gay med student/technician Kyle Lewis (played by Brett Claywell), shared a sexual past in college.

The Art of Being Straight

July 29, 1:45 AM

Jesse Rosen & castmembers: The Art of Being Straight

The Art of Being Straight-Synopsis: Twenty three yr. old Jon (Jesse Rosen) has just moved to Los Angeles from New York, ostensibly "taking a break" from his longtime girlfriend. He moves in with college bro Andy (Jared Grey), whose pals' frat boy banter is riddled with homophobic humor and "that is so gay" a common phrase. Jon is hardly comfortable discussing his shifting Kinsien scale placement with them, and his new job as bottom-rung gofer at a major ad agency is fraught with sexual tension as a studly boss (Johnny Ray Rodriguez) barrages him with thinly veiled come-ons. Infamous among his buddies as a womanizer, Jon is more surprised than anyone when he ultimately falls for his boss’ seductive charms, which sends him spiraling into a world of sexual confusion. Meanwhile, he becomes re-acquainted with Madeleine (Rachel Castillo), a friend from college, who is involved with a woman but starts falling for her new next door neighbor...a man. Ultimately, each of the friends discovers that acceptance in modern American society is not as difficult as they thought, that social mores no longer dictate who we are and that each decision you make has a direct affect on your identity.

T.R. Knight Covers Entertainment Weekly

T.R. Knight Covers Entertainment Weekly

T.R. Knight takes the latest cover of Entertainment Weekly and explains the gradual “breakdown of communication” between himself and Grey’s Anatomy creator Shonda Rhimes. Here’s what the 36-year-old actor shared:

On why he left the hit medical drama: “My five-year experience proved to me that I could not trust any answer that was given [about my character George]. And with respect, I’m going to leave it at that.”

On Shonda discouraging T.R. from coming out of the closet during the Isaiah Washington controversy: “I think she was concerned about having my statement come out so close to the [initial] event.” (Shonda denies this: “I said, ‘If you want to come out, that’s awesome.’”

On walking away from a $14 million contract: “From an outsider’s perspective, I get the [impression that] ‘He’s just a spoiled actor…he doesn’t know how good he has it.’ There are a lot of people who would like to be in my position. But in the end, I need to be fulfilled in my work.”

Check out T.R.’s first official statement about leaving Grey’s here. He’ll be performing on Broadway next year.

Mex in the City

Out of Africa in Style

In LA, two things are taken to be self-evident: cheap Mexican food reigns supreme and downtown is dead. However, in our urban epicenter, Provecho is determined to prove otherwise by offering upscale dining inspired from recipes found south of the border sans the bottomless basket of chips. This oasis in a landscape of Tex-Mex comes complete with a ceviche bar and an extensive cocktail menu, providing flavors as complex as the plot of a telenovela.

Once inside this restaurant, bathed in a somber yellow glow given

off by aged metal and glass chandeliers, you can pair cured cold smoked thresher shark ceviche with their signature La Sancha de Angeleno (pictured). For the timid types who fear they might have a weak stomach for shark (a "shark weak" stomach?), order the Negro Modelo-braised short ribs along with the La Sancha de Angeleno. Better still, if you are off food for the moment (it is beach weather; we won't blame you) order the La Sancha de Angeleno (can you tell we liked it?) -a fuchsia libation of vodka, pomegranate juice, and agave nectar topped by a single splendid jalapeño will make you understand that sweet, sour, and caliente make a perfectly combustible combination. One sip of La Sancha summarizes the overall vibe of Provecho: hip, urban, spicy and unexpected, just like that pool boy you picked up at the Blue Chairs in Puerto Vallarta.

Meet "Team Gay" from the new season of "Project Runway"! | AfterElton.com

by snicks

Like many people, I've been worried that Project Runway would lose the certain "je ne sais gay" that it enjoyed on Bravo when it made the move to Lifetime (and its recent promos haven't helped assuage my fears.)

But they're certainly taking a step in the right direction with the announcement of this year's designers. Of the sixteen new contestants, eight are men, six of whom are out. Well, five of the guys are out, and one describes his sexuality as "in flux".

Look below for pics and profiles of the five out gay designers (and the "in flux" designer Malvin) and be sure and catch Project Runway when it debuts on Lifetime on Thursday, August 20th at 10PM ET.

The Fifty Greatest Gay Movies!

by AfterElton.com Staff

When we here at AfterElton.com originally conceived the idea to present our first annual poll of the best gay male movies of all time, we wondered how many gay movies could possibly be considered “great.” Fifty seemed like a nice solid number, but we weren’t quite sure. We opened the polls anyway, and you voted.

'Prince of Persia': Exclusive first look at star Jake Gyllenhaal! | PopWatch Blog | EW.com

Jul 17, 2009, 09:30 AM | by Nicole Sperling

Prince-of-persia_l For Jake Gyllenhaal, playing Prince Dastan in Jerry Bruckheimer's epic Prince of Persia: Sands of Time, due May 28, 2010, was a chance to get into some serious action. (Paparazzi photos of Gyllenhaal on-set have appeared previously, but this is the first official shot of him in character.) "I'm tired of taking myself so seriously," says the actor, who found himself sword-fighting, climbing walls, and jumping off of buildings as part of the prince's quest to find an enchanted dagger and turn back time. "It's nice when a stuntman turns to you and is like, 'Actors don't normally do this.'"

For a sweet, glossy copy of the photo and other exclusive first looks, be sure to pick up this week's issue of Entertainment Weekly, on newstands now.

Jeremy Piven Opens Up About His Inner Ari Gold

Flythru Bag

If you're a devotee of the HBO hit Entourage you know how hard it is to picture Ari Gold practicing yoga. And Jeremy Piven, who plays the profane, slur-spewing stereotyping uber agent sounds a bit like his character when he talks about his introduction to yoga. He thought "you have to wear a leotard. I mean, do you have to wear a bindi and hold incense," Piven says in the August issue of Men's Fitness.

Gant’s our man

Robert_gant_1

Robert_gant_6

One of the many guilty pleasures the late, lamented and unapologetically gay soap "Queer As Folk" offered us was the fantasy man of our choice: You wanted the endearingly insecure and earnest "semi-cute" blue-collar boy next door, you got Michael; you wanted the unattainable lean-and-mean bad boy, you got Brian; you wanted the precocious pretty-boy artist, you got Justin; you wanted the unsinkable and fiercely fun-loving bon vivant, you got Emmet.

But let's admit it -- we all have a soft spot for Professor Ben Bruckner, who looked as good in a wife beater on the dance floor of the mythical Babylon as he did bespectacled in front of his lecture hall.

Josh Duhamel's Nice Pole

Untitled35

Mr. Fergie, Josh Duhamel, is lovingly portrayed as an outdoorsman in Men's Health (August 2009). Check out this description:

"The flecks of gray in his stubble and the delicate lines around the eyes are his only visible concessions to his age (oldish for a new  husband, perhaps, but right at the sweet spot for a leading man)."

Tell me again that straight men read this stuff?
