The Fifty Greatest Gay Movies!
by AfterElton.com Staff

When we here at AfterElton.com originally conceived the idea to present our first annual poll of the best gay male movies of all time, we wondered how many gay movies could possibly be considered “great.” Fifty seemed like a nice solid number, but we weren’t quite sure. We opened the polls anyway, and you voted.
'Prince of Persia': Exclusive first look at star Jake Gyllenhaal! | PopWatch Blog | EW.com
Jul 17, 2009, 09:30 AM | by Nicole Sperling
For Jake Gyllenhaal, playing Prince Dastan in Jerry Bruckheimer's epic Prince of Persia: Sands of Time, due May 28, 2010, was a chance to get into some serious action. (Paparazzi photos of Gyllenhaal on-set have appeared previously, but this is the first official shot of him in character.) "I'm tired of taking myself so seriously," says the actor, who found himself sword-fighting, climbing walls, and jumping off of buildings as part of the prince's quest to find an enchanted dagger and turn back time. "It's nice when a stuntman turns to you and is like, 'Actors don't normally do this.'"
For a sweet, glossy copy of the photo and other exclusive first looks, be sure to pick up this week's issue of Entertainment Weekly, on newstands now.

Public Enemies
Running time 143 minutes
Written by Ronan Bennett, Michael Mann and Ann Biderman
Directed by Michael Mann
Starring Johnny Depp, Christian Bale, Marion Cotillard, Channing Tatum, Stephen Graham, Giovanni Ribisi, Billy Crudup
America's enduring obsession with the folk-hero outlaws and gangsters of the 1930s is about to get ratcheted up a few notches. Ace director Michael Mann’s Public Enemies, with Johnny Depp as an unlikely but undeniably mesmerizing John Dillinger, opens on July 1, but I liked it so much I am compelled to write about it early. I don’t think anyone will mind. Thrilling, glamorous, richly textured and breathlessly action-packed, it is one of the best movies of the year.

Ryan Reynolds: artistic integrity and hot abs?

By Whitney Pastorek
Ryan Reynolds is simply too smart and self-aware to be so good-looking. The reticent hunk — who kicks off our Must List for 2009, thanks to his big-screen summer double shot of X-Men Origins: Wolverine and The Proposal — spent his EW cover shoot wielding a giant water gun instead of an ego, and try as he might, he simply cannot muster the arrogance to flaunt what he's got. When asked if he's comfortable as a sex symbol, Reynolds sighs. ''If you take any of that seriously, you need to be euthanized, ASAP,'' he says. ''There are moments when you can use that to your advantage. But it's really embarrassing. I think I fear more than anything just sounding like a complete a -- hole when I have to answer that question.''
